"Centuries Of Heat tackles topics that are on everybody’s mind, from Black Lives Matter (Built For Love) to global terrorism (Centuries of Heat) to marijuana politics (Killaweed) to his own personal struggles through the ever-changing and unsteady music business (Karma Cashback)."

Angelo Moore has carved out quite the reputation over the past couple decades. Through his legendary band Fishbone, Angelo has influenced and defined a musical style and performance ability that has crossed generations and genres. Angelo, with the help of Bay Area musician Kris Jensen, is redefining his musical prowess with his latest project, the Brand New Step.

Signed to Ropeadope Records, Angelo and the Brand New Step have more ambitious plans than ever with their self-proclaimed “smooth psychedelic electronic dub” genre of music. Ropeadope Records more simply calls it “conscious catchy pop.” With the help of producer duo the Rondo Brothers (Foster The People, Galactic, Loquat, Diegos Umbrella) the band holds nothing back with their latest record offering sometimes deep, sometimes politically charged and always fun moments of grooving genre-bending music.

“…he’s probably best-known as the cartoon super hero at the heart of Fishbone. The band gives Moore the freedom to explore neo-soul, acid-jazz, and robotic funk production, laced with his trademark horns and left-field sensibilities. Brand New Step’s latest single “Centuries of Heat” nods towards Sign ‘O’ The Times-era Prince, with lyrics about the way past oppression ripples through history, becoming modern tension and injustice.” – Afropunk
