BENEDICT PAZ // Business & Legal Affairs
Benedict developed his deep love for hip-hop music, slam poetry, and songwriting in San Francisco. Originally pursuing a career in politics, he also had an appreciation for the legal field and worked as a paralegal for various firms in the Bay Area. Naturally, he sought to make a unique career out of blending together his two (at times conflicting) passions: law and creativity.
After keeping up with hotly debated issues in the ever-evolving music copyright landscape, Benedict finally decided to pursue law school in 2015 at the University of San Diego. Before graduating in 2018, he methodically tailored his experiences for a career in the music business, working a copyright case as a judicial extern for the United States District Court in Los Angeles and as an intellectual property law clerk at TechLaw LLP in San Diego.
After gaining experience with copyright and intellectual property law, he most recently worked with mechanical licensing at Warner/Chappell Music Publishing in Los Angeles, finally allowing him to merge law and creativity in a professional role. Recently hired by Riptide Music Group in 2018, Benedict looks forward to making a positive impact to the music publishing business and copyright law for years to come!
